What my first 6 months as a Software Engineer were like

Back in the (crazy) year of 2020, I graduated from university. In doing so I got myself a Computer Science and Mathematics degree and also secured my first graduate job (yay!). Since then, I have been working as a Software Engineer at TomTom.

This is how that has been going…

What the first week was like

I started my journey in September. Actually, it was more like a restart as I worked at TomTom as an Intern Software Engineer during my placement at university. It was really lovely to see my team again and see the progress they made.

As travelling to central London was discouraged at that point, my first day at my new job was in the comfort of my own home.

Luckily though, TomTom was able to send out all my equipment in advance, so I was ready to start at 9am sharp. They also threw in some nice swag (thanks for the backpack TomTom).

With the help of my team, I was able to find all the software I needed and had it downloaded and installed on the first day. That was day 1 completed ✅

In no time at all, I was ready to go. I even managed to write code and have it in production within a week!

How were the next 6 months?
